In autumn, fascinating natural sites such as active volcanoes, ice caves and the Highlands are walkable, beautiful autumn colours are visible, along with the opportunity to experience the most amazing spectacle the north has to offer: the Northern Lights!
Ideal conditions to capture unique moments during the day as well as at night in breathtaking places such as Þórsmörk, the active volcano Fagradalsfjall, the Vestrahorn and the countless waterfalls such as Brúarfoss and Háifoss under the guidance of night/landscape photographers Riccardo Schläger and Stefan Liebermann.
This photo tour includes beautiful accommodation such as the Aurora Lodge Hotel where you have the opportunity to bathe under the Northern Lights.
The time has come: in 2025, the sun has reached the maximum of its current eleven-year solar cycle - the phase in which it produces particularly strong bursts of radiation and solar storms. This means increased chances of geomagnetic storms which will lead to spectacular northern lights in all imaginable colors and shapes on our planet. NASA also predicts that the solar maximum will last until 2026.

Discover the true jewel of Iceland: the Highlands! On super jeep tours with spectacular river crossings you will visit Þórsmörk and Landmanalaugar and take photos at one of the most spectacular photo locations our world has to offer.
The trip is aimed at all photography enthusiasts and lovers of the region around the Arctic Circle. The difficulty of the trip is moderate and sufficient fitness is required (hike: 5-10 km, altitude profile +-400m). It is a journey with a focus on photography, in which we have to be flexible in order to be in the perfect place when the Northern Lights appear. You will visit and photograph the most beautiful places in Iceland, alternating at sunrise, sunset and night. During the trip, you will learn everything related to landscape photography from the theory of image capture, planning to post-processing. We start with the theoretical and technical basics and apply them in one of the most beautiful places on earth. We evaluate the recordings together and then get to know the workflows in post-production based on the existing files.
The goal of the trip is to return home with grandiose memories and captivating landscape shots.

There may be changes to the program due to sudden and violent weather changes, volcanic eruptions and geomagnetic storms.
If you arrive on day 1, please arrive at Keflavik Airport no later than 2 pm so that we can experience the sunset at Kirkjufell. I recommend arriving one day before the start of the tour to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
Day 1
Pick-up from Keflavík Airport (KEF)
2 hour drive to West Iceland to the property.
Sunset at beautiful Kirkjufell.
Dinner and subsequent photography of the northern lights.
Day 2
Sunrise in the Kirkjufell region.
Breakfast
Drive towards South Iceland with stops at iconic photo spots such as Budir Church or Lóndrangar.
In case of active volcanic eruption, we can spend the day exploring and photographing the volcano.
Hike to Brúarfoss waterfall where we will spend the sunset.
Drive to the Aurora Lodge Hotel
Supper
Relax in the hot tub or photograph the Northern Lights in the hotel, at Skógafoss waterfall or on Black Sand Beach (depending on the weather)
Overnight stay
Day 3
Possibility of sunrise at Seljalandsfoss.
Breakfast (included) at the hotel.
4x4 tour to Þórsmörk.
Trek up to the magical Valahnúkur where we will spend the sunset.

Adventure tour in the glacier caves and on the Vatnajökull glacier (If there are accessible and safe caves - depending on our Icelandic local guide)

Sunset at Lagoon / Diamond Beach / Vestrahorn.

Possibility of night photography at Vestrahorn or Diamond Beach.

Drive to Vik with stops at the fascinating Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, Svartifoss or the Sólheimasandur airplane wreck.
Sunset at Black Sand Beach, Dyrholaey or Seljalandsfoss.

Possibility of seeing the northern lights at Black Sand Beach.
Day 7
Drive to the Highlands with possible stops at Maelifell, Huldofoss, Ofaerufoss and Sigöldugljúfur Canyon
Sunset at the impressive Háifoss waterfall or Sigöldugljúfur Canyon.
Check-in and dinner at Highland Center Hrauneyjar

Transfer to Keflavík Airport (KEF)
In order to provide the best care, the maximum number of participants has been limited to 7 people.
The minimum number of participants for the tour is 4 people.
The supervisors are the landscape photographers Riccardo Schläger and Stefan Liebermann.
Participation is possible with English or German language skills.

Iceland has very unpredictable weather, every 30 minutes the weather can change completely and therefore waterproof walking boots and a shell jacket are required. It is best to choose clothing in such a way that you can add or remove individual layers depending on the weather. Example: thermal underwear,
Wool or polar fleece mid-layer, a jacket with a windproof and waterproof shell that also covers the legs. Spare socks and hiking boots are essential.

If a participant decides to cancel their reservation, they can do so at any time by communicating it as soon as possible through the official email address of one of the two organizers.
However, you should bear in mind that cancellation by a participant may lead to administrative difficulties in the case of
bookings, as well as the risk, the minimum number of participants for
not reaching the trip (and consequently the need to look for a new person).
For this reason:
- If the cancellation
MORE than 60 days (prior to departure), you can get a refund.
- If the cancellation
LESS than 60 days prior to departure, it is NOT
possible to get a refund.
